Things seem to be changing rapidly with tennis at Napa Valley College. While students are working hard to improve the tennis club activities, classes are being cancelled. Last year we lost both advanced tennis classes (one day-time class and one night-time class). We were reduced to one evening class in the summer months. Now, the popular Saturday morning class was removed from the spring semester schedule. In it's place is a new class being offered during the week (Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:30-11:00 am). This is scheduled to be a late-start class in order to keep it to a (36 hours) one unit credit-course. This class will be taught by Rebecca Thompson. There will also be a community education class offered on Monday and Wednesday nights from 5:30-7:00 pm (also a late-start class taught by Rebecca Thompson). The two nights will be offered at separate fees to allow students to take one or both nights. The night classes are non-credit courses with a fee of $75 for the 12-weeks.
There are two other day classes offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays that will be taught by Marie Torkleson. Both of these classes are 1.5 credit courses. All classes are required to have 15 students enrolled at least two weeks prior to the first class meeting to avoid being cancelled.
To register for the spring semester go to www.napavalley.edu.
The lights on the tennis courts at Napa Valley College have been re-structured to a key system that is only available to instructors. The community, at this point, has one option to play under the lights on campus this spring. So, for those who enjoy playing at night under the lights, or work during the day and need to play at night, register for the NVC Community Education Competitive Tennis Workshop on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30-7:00 pm. Students have an additional opportunity to play on the lighted courts if they are official members of the Napa Valley College Tennis Club.
If you want to become a member of the Tennis Club, simply register for a class at NVC and talk to one of the officers of the club or email thompsontennis@sbcglobal.net.

Please be careful when using the squeegees and the rubber blades on the Dry court squeegees. They will last all winter if you make sure they are properly stored when you are finished using them. Proper storage means inside the locked courts or storage shed with none of the rubber part touching the court surface. Hang them up!

If you are the last to leave the courts,
please make sure the gates are closed and
locked. We have found them left open
overnight several times recently as well as
the clubhouse doors. Vandalism
has been a big problem in the past and we have
spent a great deal of money on secure
fencing and motion lights. PLEASE help keep
your courts in good condition by locking up!
None of us want extra repair expenses, right?
