A reminder to all NVTA team Captains!! Your team members must be NVTA members in order to join your team!!! Membership info is on our website.

Once again in August we will be hosting one of the USTA Adult Districts. There are four such events each year and the winning team from each level moves on to the Section in Carmel. For the first time all four events will be held at the same time. The dates are August 13-15, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

We will need volunteers for both the Adult Districts AND the Annual Tennis Classic to monitor the water, setup each morning, take down each night, help the officials, etc. Or if you can't volunteer, perhaps you could donate a case of water bottles. If you would like to be one of the volunteers, please contact Bob bobwalsh10@comcast.net.

On the Fourth of July weekend we will host our 33rd Annual Napa Valley Tennis Classic and this year it has been named one of the NTRP Grand Slam tournaments of Northern California. This means that all players will receive double NTRP points. Last year we had the largest number of entries (363) in the history of the event originally called "The Beringer".

4.0 team
Captain Jan Edwards Reports-The 3.5 B team aka "Slick Chicks" has had a fantastic season so far, we are undefeated at 5-0! Unfortunately, we have a few rainout matches to contend with, but we are hoping we have reached the end our rainy season! Looking forward to finishing up the last of our matches and possibly making it to playoffs in July. Slick Chicks are: Sheila Chapman, Susan Collins, Jane Cunningham, Susie Davis, Jan Edwards, Esther Guardardo, Phyllis Harris, Sharon Harris, Kim Hocker, Marie Kelly, Whitney Miller, Anna Nobel, Kim Phinney, Susan Savino, Sue Smith, Karen Waite, Nancy Waldeck, and Kathleen Williams

Captain Lorraine Fazzolare Reports-The Women's 4.0 team has had a great season. We have a lot of new players this year from Calistoga, Napa, St. Helena and Sonoma. We've been able to hold our own against the tough teams of NVCC and Rancho Solano (the Green Valley team is still giving us trouble.) With only two matches to go, we're confident that we will end the season in playoffs!

4.0 Team members Jenny Yamakawa and Diane Barker, on left, are smiling after a thrilling three set win over their opponents from Ranch Solano.

If you are the last to leave the courts, please make sure the gates are closed and locked. We have found them left open overnight several times recently as well as the clubhouse doors. Vandalism has been a big problem in the past and we have spent a great deal of money on secure fencing and motion lights. PLEASE help keep your courts in good condition by locking up! None of us want extra repair expenses, right?

The NVTA Court Reporter newsletter will be published monthly. Please submit articles and photos to Bev Wilson.

See you on the courts!
